Did Not Believe

Today’s Verse: Mark 16:13 They went away and reported it to the others and they did not believe them either. NASB

Hey, door to door evangelism is tough stuff. This was their second stop to tell disciples that Jesus had indeed risen from the grave and nobody believed them. I remember one time back in Garland, Texas, Glenn, a friend of mine and I went out door knocking to invite people to the church. I am a big guy, but Glenn was even bigger (defensive tackle for SMU). We decided to break up as a team when apartment after apartment no one would even open up their door. At the last place the window was open and we could even hear the people talking about these two really big guys banging on their door. “What do they want? You open it…no way!” They were too scared to open the door. I can’t imagine what would have happened if they had and then found out we were there for Jesus instead of their car or TV. That was pretty much the end of my attempts at confrontational evangelism. These days I find it much more effective to build relationships and invite people to just be around other church members at non threatening events. I work up to it slower than some, but I do get to the point. Some, like the surprised disciples do not believe, but many more are thankful you shared and even more that you took time to get to know them. Develop relationships with a purpose. We are called to share the good news that Jesus has indeed risen from the grave…and that’s good news!

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
