Nowhere to lay His head

garage

Today’s Verse: Matthew 8:20 Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” NASB

We venture out into the garage occasionally to clear the main path every so often. It is amazing how much stuff we can accumulate over time. Sometimes over very little time. I don’t have any desire to navel gaze concerning comfort sought in stuff. What I find interesting is Christ’s absolute rejection of worldly encumbrances by way of material things. Given, His earthly mission lasted a mere three years, but He did have 30 years prior to accumulate some things that would require at least the 1st century equivalent of a U-Haul, right? Joseph may have stored it in his garage for Jesus kind of like we store our daughter’s prom dresses and the the like even yet. I sincerely doubt it though. Jesus did not let the worldly get a hold on Him in any way. We, like the foxes and birds, desire protection from the elements in housing of some sort. How would it work out if we all just wandered around staying with other people all the time or sleeping out in the open? I am not going to go home and toss it all out physically, but I do need to do a spiritual inventory and see if any of all that I cling to is being put before my service and devotion to Christ and His will. It is very possible that a spiritual garage sale is in order. How does your spiritual garage look?

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
