Light of men

BeamClouds

Today’s Verse: John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. NASB

One cannot read the New Testament without being struck by the constant comparisons between light and dark. Here the apostle John tells us that not only is Jesus Christ the Light, but adds that He is also life. It is interesting to see all the marketing and commercials attempting to persuade people that in their product is more life and happiness. People who unwittingly chase after all the gusto they can get often descend into the darkness of this world. This leads all too often to addiction, abuse and meaningless existence grasping for brief moments of “happiness” defined by the absence of stress or pain. The country song says it well, “Looking for love in all the wrong places.” In Christ we find a number of life lessons presented as contrast. Giving up ones life leads to life. Ceding control to Him leads to true freedom. Living a life in Him and serving Him each day as Lord and Master yields a life filled with ceaseless joy regardless of circumstance and a purpose filled life lived in His Light. It is not a life any longer lived with regrets, but one filled with service and rejoicing. There is a stark contrast between the darkness the world offers and a life in the Light. Choose today and always to turn towards the Light of men and have eternal life in His light.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
