Oh, the Depth

cell

Today’s Verse: Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! NASB

We can spend lifetimes trying to unfold the mysteries of God. Paul says that it is so deep and so wide that we will never probe the ends of it. It is interesting that both sentences in this verse end in exclamation points. Paul is shouting out this truth, proclaiming it to all who would hear. We might ask ourselves if it would not be better if we could understand or comprehend all of God. One of the responses to idolatry I have heard and appreciate is that those gods have one thing in common. They are all too small. We watched a video last week from the Focus on the Family’s Truth Project on God and science. The amazing things that are now known about the incredible complexity of what God put in motion at the cellular level is beyond our comprehension. The reason the big models of weather patterns are difficult is the lack of computing power to even account for clouds and their effect. If we cannot comprehend or duplicate even the “simplest” of things, how can we ever attain to comprehending God in His fullness? He has revealed all that I need to know in His word. What I need to know of Him and His purposes and me and my part in all that are found there. That’s enough depth for my soul!

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
