Covenant which was found

torah

Today’s Verse: 2 Kings 23:2 The king went up to the house of the Lord and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord. NASB

Although I have several Bibles, the one I use the most is the one I have all my margin notes and highlights from preaching school. I have had in the last few years several scares when I thought I had lost it. Fortunately, it was soon found right where I had laid it down, but I did panic. After years, someone found the Book of the Law in the Temple. Had they not missed it? Had they not known it the very word of God? The king, Josiah, gathered everyone together to hear the reading of The Book. Many had apparently not heard it before in their lifetime. We find that hard to believe having such ease of access to multiple translations and Bibles today. Can you imagine the President calling such an assembly? We need it now more than ever to hear from God’s word what His standard is for His people. We live in a supposedly Christian country. Well, at any rate, it was founded by Christians on Christian principles. That is denied today and even sneered at. As a result, the United States are now the third largest mission field in the world! How far we have fallen. It would be a good idea to gather all the people “both small and great” and read from God’s word. But until that day, let us hear a fresh word from His book every day lest we too forget.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
