Death the Last Enemy

Today’s Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death. NASB

I presided over a funeral for a friend of mine yesterday. It is always hard to say goodbye, but for a fifty year old, it just seems all too soon. I read this verse today and thought, I wish death had been abolished last week before Art passed away. I would be willing to bet that everyone reading this could substitute a loved ones name in my statement. We will never comprehend God’s timing this side of eternity. Life is too much like a large tapestry where we can only see the back of it. Lots of colors and a faint revelation of the actual design, but God sees the front. His perspective is unimpeded and clear. When we are able to give ourselves over to God’s control, we have the assurance that He will do what is best for us given the full picture, not just based on our limited understanding. That is hard to take at times, but ultimately, why would we want less? It will be hard to expect to see Art come around the corner with his famous grin brightening the room. But then, it is farewell and see you soon, not goodbye. For those who are in Christ, there is a wonderful reunion awaiting us when we all cross from this life into eternity. We will all have big grins that day!

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
