Sowers sow the word

Today’s Verse: Mark 4:14 “The sower sows the word.” NASB

God chose us in His redemptive plan design to be sowers of seed. As a city kid, I don’t have much experience with seed sowing in the literal agricultural sense. My first mind’s picture is of someone with a sack of seeds sort of going about flinging handfuls hither and yon as it were. While I was in Lubbock, Texas I had the opportunity to see how it is done today with cotton seed. They now have GPS guided planters that can tell you within something like a quarter of an inch where the seed got “sown”. That’s a long way from flinging. I think there are opportunities for both flinging the word and placing it with exacting precision. A dear friend is just starting a new radio show out of Austin, Texas featuring Christian principles for living meaningful lives and Christian apologetics which will be replayed on Armed Forces Radio in some 175 countries around the world. The audience may be as big as 100 million. That’s some serious broadcast flinging of the word. Each of us has an opportunity to support such projects as these. In our daily lives, we can see opportunities for sowing a specific message from God’s word in lives all around us if we open our spiritual eyes and ears for right moments. So whether we fling or scientifically sow in individuals, the call is on us as the church to sow. Ask God to give His eyes, ears and heart today that you might identify sowing moments.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
