Grace and Peace to You

greeting

Today’s Verse: Colossians 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father. NASB

(Personal note: Apologies for missing a couple of days. This week is hopefully my last round of chemo. Thanks for your prayers. I will let you know the results of the PET scan scheduled for April 6th)

Today, I want to greet all of you who are in Christ just as Paul greeted our brethren at Colossae. So, grace and peace to you from God our Father. What a wonderful, warm and meaningful way to greet each other. I read a doxology as part of a closing prayer last Sunday night and it really was so uplifting and thought provoking. I think we should talk to each other a bit more in these terms. Let’s drop the cursory, “How are you…Fine..” worldly greetings. We so often go through the motions of greeting our brothers and sisters in Christ that it becomes sheer habit and we don’t even listen to the response because no one expects us to. It rarely evokes a response of, “Actually I’m having problems” so much so that if someone were to be that transparent we almost trip for loss of balance from the socially correct greeting banter we normally go through. I am personally very tired of that. I want to move beyond surface relationships with you. Let’s try to greet each other sincerely and with a blessing from God on our lips. What a better to meet in Him.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
