A Tested Stone

Today’s Verse: Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.” NASB

Several years ago we decided to replace the carpet in our home with laminate flooring that looked like wood. I talked with the folks at the store and was sure it was a project I could handle on my own. Unfortunately, one of the instructions the guy gave me was to start in the middle of the floor and work outwards to the walls. Dutifully I began that way. However, the floor would shift around constantly and trow everything off. Exasperated, I decided to begin over at one of the walls. With the corner and the walls as the guides and anchor, the project took off and was completed without all the problems. God put Christ on earth as that cornerstone. The cornerstone set the angles and alignment for all the rest of the structure. All had to be lined up with the cornerstone and everything went to plan, being well anchored. Our lives are the same. If we begin with Christ and align our lives to His example, we will be well anchored and not constantly shifting around. What a wonderful foundation we have in Him. Now we can build lives knowing they are firmly attached to the tested, the costly, the firm cornerstone and we will not be disturbed. Amen.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.

  1. Thanks and God Bless

  2. Well put, we can never go wrong with Jesus anchoring our foundation. I find it ironic that I have had the exact same experience with laminate flooring.
After reading this, and some of your other posts, I went to your “about” section. I was pleased to find that your bio is similar to mine. Anytime a person is a follower of Christ first and is true to that it is a good thing. Good luck with the aspiring writer thing, I too am in that fold. With God all things are possible.

  3. Nicely focused blog. Life is always shifting for sure. It’s hard to stay focused as the shifting sands move, so you give great advice here.

I find it also curious that you would blog about foundations since you live in the great earthquake state. I probably should read that nuance into your remarks.

  4. Encouraging to find your blog today.
Wordpress linked our blogs on “possibly related posts.”
