Water and Lives Reflect

reflection

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 27:19 As in water face reflects face, So the heart of a man reflects man. NASB

Fortunately or unfortunately, only God can accurately measure what is in our hearts. It is truth that we can, in our fleshly nature, intentaneously rationalize the divide between behavior and intent. God can see into our hearts and know motives. This verse compares the ability to see ones reflection in water to looking to the reflection of the man to see what is in the heart. We can look at what kind of fruit is being produced by our lives and begin to fathom what is in the heart. Are people drawn to us because we are encouragers and are living Christ-like lives or are they put off by what they see as hypocritical separation between claims of Christianity and day to day treatment of those around us? We all need to continually ask God to help us look at our behavior and get a clear reflection of what is in our hearts. There is no doubt that even the most mature Christian will find something to work on. It is the most immature that may find nothing. Lord, help us to be able to clearly know that our hearts are growing ever more like yours. Reveal to us the areas that need the most work and give us the strength and wisdom to change. Amen

May God bless your heart as you seek His.

  1. The bible tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.

But God is looking for a changed heart. A heart that has be transformed by the indwelling of his holiness. He is looking for a heart that holds his word deep within it. God can do great and mighty things through a heart that is surrendered to him.

The question you have to ask yourself is does your heart reflect surrender or rebellion?
    Examine yourself and see.
