Heavenly places

Today’s Verse: Ephesians 1:3 Blessed b the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, NASB

Our Men’s Bible Study group started on Ephesians this week. It is such a rich study of God’s word for the church and our role in His redemptive plan for all. The question came up about how we can be blessed in the “heavenly places” if we have not yet passed from this life into eternity. The study of the concept of Christ’s “Kingdom” is important here. Suffice it to say, however, that when we see “kingdom” in this regard, we are safe to hear “reign”. Christ Jesus is sitting at God’s right hand on the throne reigning over His kingdom even now. Christ sits in the “heavenly places”, but we also as His church share in His reign and a margin of His glory now as we do His bidding. Certainly our joy will be completed in heaven at the end of our journey, but we have a key role to play in His reign even now. Because of that role in the redemptive plan as His church, we share in the holiness of God and sit with Christ in the heavenly places in that effort. Yes, our eternity in heaven is yet to come, but we have been given a foretaste of it in His Spirit and service as we reign with Him sharing the Good News and serving as His covenant people reflecting His light to the world. What a marvelous view of whose we are and what we have already received in Him.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.

  1. You are so right on in your message, Bryan. It is also worthy to note, that those who are in Christ and who will reign with him in eternity, have power right here and now as Christ has put ALL of our enemies under our feet in him. Nothing can defeat a true child of God and that is a promise that is worth the cost!
