Some wood and earthenware

gold-hearts

Today’s Verse: 2 Timothy 2:20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. NASB

Wouldn’t it be thrilling to be able to attend a church where everyone was spiritually mature and fully Christ-like? Of course then I think that maybe I might not fit in since I fall a bit short of that mark at times. As I think of the wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ I have known and know, it is such encouragement to me. I do see them as the silver and gold vessels. They are formed and polished over years of dedicated service and spiritual discipline. Seeing their dedication and service to others makes me want to serve better, achieve more and especially to know the Lord in the tender way like them. The wood and earthenware can be formed, polished and become silver and gold. It is not without effort and a burning desire to be in constant service and contact with our Lord and Savior. If you find that you are still a bit of a rough-hewn or earthy disciple, make the decision right now to spend time with the Father in prayer and in His word each day this year. He can transform your life, but it takes desire and effort on your part. It does not just happen, but what a beautiful sight is one whose desire to be like the Christ we profess comes to fruition. Let us live to Christ and to honor.

May God bless your heart as you seek His.

  1. It’s a glorious yet scary truth – how God deals with His bride, the church. I think we’ll all be surprised in the final measure of things.

    Thanks for your words!
