True Light

new-year-2009

Today’s Verse: John 1:9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. NASB

On the news they were talking about how there are going to be upwards of one million people in Times Square in New York to watch the big lighted ball drop marking the beginning of the New Year. That’s a lot of people and no doubt a lot of “celebrating”. My first reaction is, “I wonder how many hours it will take to get out of that traffic jam?” But that’s just me. What we should be pondering on at this new beginning is the real and “true Light” that came into the world. Will His light make a difference in us and through us this day, this year? How can we make strides in our spiritual discipline this year that will make a marked difference in our progress towards Christ’s likeness? Will you devote yourself to a daily quiet time? Will you spend time in prayer each day? Will you open and meditate on His word daily? Will you reach out in love and fellowship to other believers this year? Will you pray for specific lost persons? Will you dare to share the gospel with another this year? Will you minister to the needs of others, putting them before self? Much to consider in the Light this new year.

As always, may God bless your heart as you seek His.

  1. Bryan, you have such a great way to put things. I really enjoy your writing.

I just can’t help but wonder about how many of those million people that crowded Times Square even care that Jesus is the light of the world. Too bad we don’t near that many crowding into church sundays to hear the word of God.

Sadly, the road to eternal life with Christ is narrow and few find it. Those who are true believers need to take up this cause and pray for those who are lost and don’t even know it!

Bless you, Bryan. You are a light in this dark world.
