There remains a Sabbath rest

Today’s Verse: Hebrews 4:9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. NASB

Do you ever find yourself at your physical, emotional wits end? We can get so burnt out at times that we need a break. God worked on creation for six days and then rested. The Sabbath was given to the Jews at Mt. Sinai as a day of rest after their years of slavery in Egypt. It also was a shadow of the Sabbath rest for all of God’s people to come. We come together on Sunday as Christ’s church to worship take communion and give thanks for all God has done in our lives. It is a day of worship set aside. It is not our Sabbath. We have not been commanded to observe that day of rest in the New Covenant. In fact, that is the only one of the Ten Commandments that is not repeated in the New. We worship, as did the first century church on Sunday, to commemorate that as the day that Jesus rose from the grave and the day that the Holy Spirit descended in power on the apostles on Pentecost. Our Sabbath rest as the church comes to us in eternity. See verse 11 where he says we need to be “diligent to enter that rest” if we do not fall. The Sabbath has to do with a rest for God’s people, not worship. It is coming for all who are His. In the mean time, take better care of yourself and seek God’s strength for your life. Know that our day of rest is coming in His presence. Jesus has gone to make a place for us. Hallelujah!

May God bless your heart as you seek His.
