“What is it that you seek?”

question1

Today’s Verse: John 1:38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What is it that you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are you staying?” NASB

What are you seeking? The answers for us are likely as many as read this and take the  time to consider an answer. Here we see Jesus at the beginning of His ministry following His baptism by John the Baptist. A couple of John’s disciples hear John declare that Jesus is the Son of God. Incredible. Of course they were curious and wanted to seek more, so they followed Him as He walked off. Jesus, knowing they were doing so, turned and posed this profound, yet simple question to them. They avoided a direct answer and instead answered a question with a question. No doubt they were thrown off a bit by His directness and the required depth of a considered response. Imagine if you will that you are following along after Jesus today. You are curious about what He will be up to in people’s lives. Who wouldn’t be if they understand and accept fully who He is, right? Now, He turns, looks you straight in the eyes and asks you the same question. “What is it that you seek?” I pray you’ll ponder your answer a bit. Your answer could transform your day.

As always, may God bless your heart as you seek His.
