Promised Ruler

Today’s Verse: Micah 5:2 But you Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. NIV

From before creation God had foreordained His redemptive plan for mankind. Why? Why did He not just create us to be what He desired us to be instead of giving us the freewill to choose to love Him or not? In that singular act of Master planning, we see the depths of His compassion and love revealed towards all. As we turn the pages of His-story in the Old Testament, we see God revealing bits at a time this revelation and salvation through His prophets for all who would accept and obey. The seed-line of Christ takes many turns and twists over time and because we have God’s word in the Bible we can know of the faith and at times folly of those whom God chose to use to bring His plan to fruition in Christ and His church. Yes, we too have now entered the narrative as His disciples and as His children we are now part of the great story of God’s love poured out for a fallen people. Somewhere between 6 and 4BC in a dusty little town named Bethlehem, God chose to send a Savior, His very Son to dwell among us and even die that we might be reconciled to Him by the shed blood of the sinless sacrifice this very Christ. But all that is history. What will we do today in His service as our part? Praise His name for what He has done already and seek His guidance for how He will use you as the message of His love continues to be opened up to others through you.

As always, may God bless your heart as you seek His.

  1. Amen! Merry Christmas to all!
