Baptism and Salvation

Today’s Verse: Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. NASB

Today’s devotional will be different. It will consist of just scripture for you to consider. Hopefully, all who read this can agree that we need to live by and obey all of God’s truth, not just pick and choose portions. I often get questions concerning the topic of the relationship between baptism and salvation. Like, “Is baptism for public profession of something that happened when I prayed to ask Jesus into my heart or is it necessary for salvation?” Or, “At what point is one saved?” Let’s seek God’s word on the subject. I pray He will bless you with understanding as we approach His truth with open minds and hearts.

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name. Acts 22:16

Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you–not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience–through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21

having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. Colossians 2:12

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:26-27

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”  John 3:5

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3-4

“He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.”  Mark 16:16

“Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”  Mark 7:8

May God richly bless your heart as you seek His.
