“Not according to man”

Today’s Verse: Galatians 1:11 For I would have you to know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. NASB

There are a lot of different beliefs available to people these days. I suppose that has always been true. Some, although they seem hardly believable to us are to someone else their comfort and, if you will ,their religion. I often wonder where some of these belief systems come from. Some, actually most, you can trace to a particular charismatic individual who over some period of time created their particular system of beliefs. Many create gods from created things or their imagination. To these are attributed various great or limited powers. Like myths with some thread of possibility or link to a distant reality, some come looking for something new or different to believe in. There exists within us a hard wired and deeply felt need to know something greater than ourselves. This higher power, whether is be some all inclusive force or a specific deity named can be summoned or sought in times of distress. It is interesting how wherever you go in the world, this is a commonality to all humanity. So whether they choose to worship a tree, the woods or some other entity, there is a drive to worship something…seek a relationship with something greater than ourselves. Some claim to be or to be capable of becoming that higher power or god themselves and aspire to that high place through deeds or meditation, karma. I choose to worship the creator rather than the creation. I know for sure that I am not god and will not ever be. My greatest artistic creations pale like a kindergartner’s finger painting next to God’s creation. The apostle Paul says that what he teaches is not something he or any other person made up. It is God’s very words revealing Himself and His redemptive plan for a creation that He dearly desires a restored relationship with. All one has to do to identify the counterfeit is to look long at the true. Pick up the Bible and read. Drink deeply from God’s truth and know that there is indeed a loving God and creator that can be known and desires an eternal relationship with us. Don’t settle for the creations and cheap imitations of man. Know God and know peace.

  1. Are you saying that you do not believe that Jesus is God because he was created and a`man?

  2. I had to go back and read my words a couple of more times and I still fail to see where you might have gotten such an implication. So, to be clear, I believe that Jesus is God. He is creator, not created. The devo was concerning man-made religion compared to that which is God breathed. Hope that is clearer. Thanks for the question and please come back.
