An extremely large stone

Today’s Verse: Mark 16:4 Looking up, they saw that thestone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large. NASB

God raised Jesus up from the grave. What an incredible event, especially for us who are His disciples with the hope of also being resurrected in turn. People usually don’t focus on these verses too much except around the Easter season. For my part, it would be good to be reminded of what that means far more often than just some arbitrary calender date set by man. Come to think of it, moving the stone was the least impressive part of the scene. It was a big deal to those who discovered it rolled back since it was “extremely large” and had been sealed and a guard posted. God simply brushed it back out of the way and went to work on the big job. He raised Jesus from the dead. But what does that mean to me this morning? Here I sit, coffee nearby, Bible open, looking for some guidance and encouragement. The fact that God raised Him is the central point and focus of my faith is it not? For if Christ has not been raised… What greater promise for us as His is there than our own resurrection at the end of our days or Christ’s return? For a large part of the year we don’t talk much about the stone being rolled away. I am reconsidering that It should be the central focus of everyday if indeed we are to understand who we are and be about the business of telling others that incredible news. Because Jesus was raised up, we know that His promise that we too will be raised up to eternal life with the Father is true. What a glorious encouragement for any day. Thank You Lord for the reminder of the importance of that amazing event to my day, today and everyday.

I know you probably weren’t heading in this direction but this encouraged me. Right now I am in the process of raising support for full-time missions and the way the economy is going it seems difficult. Maybe God will just simply brush this “problem” out of the way and provide what we need.

Hope all is going well. Thanks for continuing to post at Simply Ecclesia. Take care.
