Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Audio Version: seeking-gods-heart-jeremiah-28_15

Today’s Verse: Jeremiah 28:15 Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen now, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, and you have made the people trust in a lie.” NASB

I read a couple of related stories last week that came to mind when I read today’s scripture. The latest end of the world prediction is related to the Mayan calendar which apparently runs out in 2012. I am not sure just yet if this is the same folks who brought us Y2K, but it has just about as much of a chance of coming true. (the humorous part about Y2K was that because of the mis-numbering of the calendar we use, Jesus’ actual birth date was somewhere between 6 BC and 4 BC. That means the “real” 2000th year happened in 1994 or 1996, so by 2000 the potential for the end was already past without any oddly clad folks standing on a mountain top anxiously waiting whatever was supposed to happen) What brought this item into focus was that three internationally renowned museums have recently revealed that they have been scammed. They procured for their museums crystal skulls purported to be of Mayan origin. The folk lore says if you get a specific number of these crystal skulls together at the right time, you can indeed stop the end of time from happening in 2012. While this might make a good story line for another movie about crystal skulls, and who wouldn’t want that, the recent discovery that the crystal skulls were indeed fakes presents a problem. I wonder if fake crystal skulls work as well as the real deal at stopping the end of time? God’s word tells us that the way to know a false prophet from a true one is whether or not their prophesy comes true. God’s prophesy and word is sealed, complete. If we want to know what God wants us to know, we have only to open His word and read. We can know that we have all we need to be doing what we are supposed to be doing as His children and servants until He decides the time has come. We can rest assured that God is going to do what He is supposed to do right at the perfect time. The question we should be concerned with is are we going to be found doing what He has commanded us to be doing when He comes?
