Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Today’s Verse: Matthew 26:35 “And when they had sung a hymn, they went out unto the Mount of Olives.” ASV

Jesus and the disciples had just finished what we now know as the Last Supper. He is about to walk up to the Mount of Olives to the garden of Gethsemane and fall down before God in anguished prayer. But before they leave, they sing a hymn. I am always taken aback by this part of the story. Judas is on the way to betray and Jesus knows that these are His last few hours before His ultimate test and sacrifice. He stopped and sang a hymn. He stops and lifts up worship to the Father because He knows who is in control of all these things. As we begin our day, or face a trial, let’s follow Jesus’ example and lift up a hymn of worship to the Father. Try Psalm 19.

  1. I wish everyone could have a true realization of who is in control. It seems that is a true expression of faith.
