Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Weekending

Today’s Verse: Luke 8:11 “Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.”

Jesus was teaching something all the time. He used many earthly analogies or parables to help people understand the heavenly application. This one may be all but lost to us in this day of mechanized agri-business. Many may not even know what it was to walk out with a bag of seed and spread it by hand as they did then. The idea is that the person spreads the seed without regard for where it lands. He is just flinging it out there. The soil is the key here. Some of it is receptive and some not, but the seed caster spreads it anyway. If the seed is God’s word, maybe we are too picky about where we sow it. It is our responsibility to sow the seed, not to pick the soil.
