Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Weekending

Today’s Verse: James 4:7 “Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” NASB

The phrase “Just say NO” applies in so many areas of life, doesn’t it? Our selfish side does not like to hear the word “no”. As it turns out, neither does the devil. The biggest mistake most people make is waiting until they are tempted to make the decision whether or not to say no. That is often when we are the weakest. If we look at Jesus’ example, we see Him praying and encouraging His disciples to pray that they would be able to resist the temptation. That’s where the first part of this wonderful verse comes in. If we submit ourselves to God and say no to temptation, the devil will flee. What a great formula for Christ-like living.
