Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Audio Version: seeking-gods-heart-2-peter-1_20_21

Today’s Verse: 2 Peter 1:20-21 But know this first of all, that no prophesy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophesy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. NASB

Sadly, not a week goes by that I don’t get an inquiry from someone concerning the accuracy and origin of the scriptures we have in front of us these days. The sad truth is that many have so weak a faith and factual understanding that they are easily swayed by unrighteous doubt-sowers. If you have not studied this subject as a Christian, you should. We are certainly not asked to check our brains at the doors of our meeting places as the church. The truth of the matter is that the story is repeated over and over again, that the more one studies the more one is drawn to a clear understanding that the Holy Bible we have before us today is the result of our brothers and sisters willingness to even give their lives that the texts be preserved. We have literally 5000+ New Testament documents to compare to for accuracy, more than any other ancient document. Chose to study that for yourself to prove it or disprove it. But, if you do so with an intellectually open mind, the result will be the same. You will know that what as written then is what is in our texts today. Accurately preserved by God through faithful people. Once you can ascertain that fact, then the real challenge must take place. Do you believe what they wrote was true? Did God, creator of everything, really speak through His Spirit to men who wrote it down? Is the Bible just the words of men? It is interesting to get involved in some deeper Bible study with people and you start seeing the lights come on over their heads as they see the intricate design of God’s plan and how each part fit perfectly together. The Bible is the story of God’s redemptive plan for mankind. My reaction is to lift up hands in praise of God who did all these things that I might be reconciled back to Him. What a phenomenal thing. What love is that which would do such a thing? Praise You Lord. Praise You Lord. Praise You Lord.
