Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Audio Version: seeking-gods-heart-psalm-19_1

Today’s Verse: Psalm 19:1 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. NASB

We just spent a couple of days on the west coast of California enjoying the beauty of the shoreline along Pacific Coast highway. Lots of photographs were taken. As good as even digital photography is these days, it still does not do justice to the beauty of the many deep hues of blue and cyan accented by massive rock cliffs and white foamy waves. The coastal hills give way abruptly to this pallet God has painted on the waters of the Pacific. In places, the water is so clear, that you can see the bottom in still pools protected by jagged rocks jutting up from the deep. All in all it is a breath taking sight repeated every turn of the road. It took us hours to make a fairly short journey because we stopped just to look at His handiwork. This verse came to mind which claims that God reveals Himself in His creation. He called it forth by the power of His words and made it to be a beautiful painting that was intended to cause us to seek its creator. I am awe struck by the power of the ocean. Its sheer mass is mind boggling. Yet, its Creator knows every drop and color and fish and living thing because it was by His hand it was made. What is revealed is the heart of an incredible artist that draws in strokes of blues and greens and browns, sometimes brilliant and sometimes subtle. God has an eye for detail. Is it too difficult to know that He who has created all this beauty and detail knows our every thought and need? He is not the god of the deists, who believe in a creator, but one who wound up the clock and then stepped away to more pressing matters. Rather, Jehovah Elohim, God Creator has intimate involvement with His creation. His eye is on the sparrow. His heart and hand reach out to you and me. He paints with such beauty that we might know that He has an artist’s eye with love for every little detail. He is revealed in His creation. We can see Him in it if we just look.

  1. God is so wonderful isnt he… sometimes i lie on the grass and night and look at all the stars far up above me, and i remember that he breathed those starry host out there. He just breathed them, and those giants out there are way way way bigger than anything we can imagine. What more an awesome god who created us… hes my star breather. Dont you think so too?

  2. What a beautiful way of seeing God’s creation! The word translated as worship from Greek actually means to blow a kiss towards God. So, by worshipping Him, you can return the favor. God bless.
