Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Audio Version: seeking-gods-heart-galatians-3_28

Today’s Verse: Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. NASB

What an amazing thing to stand up and say in a time when many of these were discriminated against for their differences. The apostle Paul stands up against many cultural mores of the day announcing that all are equal under grace. Jesus died for the sins of everyone, not for only one nation or class, but for all indiscriminately. He goes on to say that all who belong to Christ are heirs of the promise made to Abraham. The storyline of the entire Bible from “Genesis to Maps” is God’s redemptive plan for mankind. He made a two-fold covenant with Abraham. The first part was physical having to do with the nation of Israel and the Promised Land which they received in full. The second part was the spiritual promise that from Abraham’s decedents would come the seed through which all the nations would be blessed. That covenant came to fulfillment like all the prophesies in Christ Jesus. This side of the cross, we are all God’s people in Christ as part of Spiritual Israel. By faith today we are God’s children just as Abraham was in his day judged righteous by his faith. It is amazing to get the real sense that we too are now part of the Bible narrative concerning God’s redemptive plan. As God’s church, we are now to continue the story by making disciples of Jesus and baptize them in His name adding them to His church. We are to teach them all the things that He commanded. We are Acts chapter 29. What will be written about your part of “His” story?

  1. Brian, trying to be Christ-like is so difficult. My answer to “What will be written about your part of “His” story?” Is that, in wanting to be closer to Him, I realize how far I have to go, yet, I will continue to try. But, your post gives me inspiration: “By faith today we are God’s children…” You remind me that I am an “heir to the promise made to Abraham,” and for that I am thankful. God be with you today.
