Seeking God’s Heart- by Bryan Shelley

Entry for May 1, 2008

Today’s Verse: Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. NASB

I wonder how many people this truly describes? Too many are those who say they know God, yet the knowing has produced nothing by way of fruit or action that would be identified with His ways. They go through the wasted motions of feigning worship, but live lives as far apart from God’s standards as one could imagine. There are too many trying to straddle the fence between the world and God. There are too many who all too readily wink off the worldliness in their lives and those with whom they surround themselves with. Let us not be counted among them. Let us be those that profess God as Lord and Savior and live differently as a result. Let us be those who live by His standard in His word. Let us be the ones who take it out of Sunday buildings and into the everydayness of every day. Let us be the ones who are found faithful. Let us be the ones who don’t drop the baton as we pass our lived-out faith off to the next generation. Let us not be seen as willing to compromise. Let us not be ready to harbor and encourage those who choose to live lives of sinfulness. Let us not be found afraid to call sin, sin. Let us not be condemning of those who are straddling or slipping, but rather be those who intervene and call them to righteousness. Let us not be seen as looking down self righteous noses, but as those who offer a hand up out of the mire in Christian love. Let us not have a love that turns a blind eye to those who would forfeit their souls, but because of love present the straight edge of God’s word as an alternative. Let us be found with deeds that undeniably identify us as His, marked forever by His love and seen walking in His light.
